Monarch butterflies are native to Missouri and milkweed is their food source. By planting as much milkweed as possible, we can all work together to support the monarch butterfly population.
The milkweed station project is a series of small stands made with discarded yard signs, and scrap fabric. Sewn into the fabric on one side are small milkweed seed packets that passersby are encouraged to take with them and plant in a special place sometime in the Fall. These are placed in different areas and neighborhoods around Kansas City.
On the other side is a poem written for me by my friend and poet Sam Slupski. This poem is about milkweed, survival, and resilience.
